Luxury Poolside Interlock Installation in Findlay Creek, Ottawa

This project was installed using Permacon Mega Melville slabs in Rockland Black color, featuring large-format slabs measuring approximately 22” x 38” each, delivering a sleek contemporary appearance that perfectly complements the luxury pool design and backyard layout.

One of the unique challenges of this project was the existing ground topography, which consisted of multiple elevation changes and varying levels throughout the backyard. To properly address these conditions and ensure long-term structural stability, our team professionally designed and built a retaining wall system around two sides of the swimming pool to support the foundation and properly manage the grade transitions across the property.

The project was completed using the highest installation standards and premium-quality materials to ensure long-term performance under Ottawa’s climate conditions. The area was properly excavated and lined with woven geotextile fabric to help separate the soil from the foundation while minimizing the risk of weed growth through the joints over time. The foundation was then built using 3/4” clear stone to provide superior drainage and reduce water accumulation beneath the slabs. An HPB High Performance Bedding layer was also installed to improve stability and help minimize frost heaving during freeze-thaw cycles.

Due to the large slab dimensions, special attention was given to leveling precision, alignment, and proper slope to ensure both visual consistency and optimal water runoff around the pool area. An important finishing step of this project was the professional application of silicone caulking between the pool coping and pool edge joints to help prevent water penetration beneath the coping stones, reducing the risk of loosening or movement over time caused by water infiltration and freeze-thaw cycles.
